How can agents get out of the Rat Race that they themselves don't even know they're in?

I recently chatted with a friend of mine who also happens to be a real estate agent...

Our convo went on just how it always does...

how's it going, what you working on and etc etc.

Eventually we got a to point where we started discussing how his pursuit in real estate was going and...

He said "You know Frank, if only I sticked to one thing from the get go I'd be far better off than I am now." 

I asked "what do you mean?" (it's important to mention that he's making $200k a year in real estate, which is good sum)

He said "When I started in real estate I focused all my efforts on cold calling and then I'd just follow up like a mad man and after working for 3 months I'd start seeing deals coming in and it was amazing...

as time went on I made some money and started investing other avenues... you know zillow, facebook etc etc...

but what happened was I completely stopped cold calling and my numbers went down drastically..." 

This is a story that I hear from agents over and over again...

The argument here isn't what prospecting channel is the best for agents or which one brings in the most income...

The argument that I'm trying to make is it's rare to find an agent that has stuck to one prospecting channel and mastered it and solidified it before building more channels. 

For those who are thinking what a prospecting channel is... it's a certain way that you get "prospects" into your business...

What you'll see in top producers and extremely successful agents is that they have multiple prospecting channels that are...

solidified, which means even when their not around there is a list of prospects building up in their CRM...

So why am I bringing this up? 

Simply put... I want you to re-evaluate how many strong prospecting channels do you have in place that will work regardless of you being there or not...

For some that's a big ahha moment where they start understanding that they don't "really" have to always be there when prospecting is happening...

You don't have to be there to pull all the triggers...

You can have someone else or something else do it for you...

Now that's a mind shift for some agents...
